Meeting opened with the reading of the SCA Values, Mission & Vision by Dave

 

  1. Erika welcomed everyone and everyone introduced themselves.
  2. Reviewed the Agenda. Nothing added to agenda; Minutes were approved, moved by Bruce, seconded by Dave.
  3. Guest: Michael Sanderson, Chief Paramedic, City of Hamilton;
    1. Doing outreach; asked people of their opinions
    2. Talked about improvements in services & reduction in Code Zero events
  4. Guest: Angela di Nello, Hamilton Neighbourhood Study
    1. Discussed the results of the Hamilton Neighbourhood Action Strategy
    2. Three hundred Stinson residents were surveyed in 2011, and again two years later

  5. Guest: Pat Wright, NLI Recruitment
    1. Grants for activities/projects in the neighbourhood
    2. Training, through Mohawk College (includes a college credit)
    3. About $500 stipend to do the project

  6. St Leonard’s Elevator Letter of Support
    1. In October, Tristan Sibley asked us to send a letter of support to help secure funding for an elevator in St Leonard’s (24 Emerald St S)
    2. There will be a community space in the renovated facility
    3. Vote: 14 in favour; As it was a clear majority, “No” votes were not tallied.

      2. All StinFilms equipment to go into the custody of SCA (projector, screen, popcorn maker, etc)
  • Gave a brief financial report; to be made public after it’s reviewed by the SPRC.

    2. Great event, despite rain!
  • Received a plaque from Cllr Farr & Mr Christopherson, MP, which will be displayed at the Rec Centre
  1. The event was under budget! Yay!
  1. Outreach Committee
    1. Linda Matthews presented the idea of using leftover funding to purchase a button maker
    2. The cost of the button maker is about $345, with a cost-per-button of about 14¢

  • Volunteers needed for set-up in advance, tear-down after and tables / events during the celebration
  1. Outreach team will be there to hand-out bootee bags (donations from area businesses and City) PLUS information about SCA and how to get involved.
